>> you are watching cbs five eyewitness news in high- definition. >> five bodies found inside of a bay area home and tonight new developments, what a family friend believes may have been the motive. >> it one way her plane ticket paid for in cash and enough firepower for a small army. a scary incident at a local airport. >> my life is in danger in my business is in danger and my staff is in danger. >> so free that he is wearing a bulletproof vest, one menu item that has a bay area chef fearing for his life. >> new developments in the

investigation of five people found dead inside of a san fransisco home. several members of the community gathered for a vigil outside of that home near city college. as part of chinese tradition they burned incense and money. elizabeth cook is here with what she just learned from a longtime family friend of the victim's. >> police are calling this a very complicated crime scene in fact they have spent most of the entire day not only canvassing the home but also blocking off the area. let me take a step back so you can look at the vigil. friends of the victim's set up is vigil in front of a home. there has been some speculation that this was a murder-suicide. that a man at this vigil that did not want to go on-camera told me that he had been friends with the family living in this home for over 20 years. and he believes that this was a murder. the motive was money and he believes the person who did this is still out there. >> it is around us, like the

massacre. >> early this morning people that live near city college woke up to this. >> this is out of the ordinary in this neighborhood. a nice quiet working-class neighborhood. and this happens, everyone needs to be concerned about what is the root cause? >> at 7:35 a.m. police say a woman came home to find a murder scene. three women and two men dead inside. this man woke up screaming. >> she was screaming " someone help me ". >> this letter says that he heard gunfire in the early morning hours. >> it was a booming sound at night and someone's voice. >> another neighbor remembers yelling how come from a home around midnight last night. >> i heard a male voice yelling and angrily, but some very aggressive. >> police say that four of the victims were related, then not release their names but co-

workers feared that she may be among the dead. she owned the home and did not show up to work today at quantitative medical systems in emeryville. this man says that she was his landlord. >> she is friendly. every time i need help she is there. >> police remained tight-lipped about this case only saying that some of the victims died from gunshot wounds and believe that the only intended victims were inside of this home. according to the man that's mostly off camera, he says that he believes that the motive had something to do with money, he would not go into any other details only to say that whoever killed this family also robs them. we just got off of the phone with police and they could not confirm any of the things the man told me and they continue to investigate all the leads. >> the family of a missing south bay teenager is refusing to let hopes fade for her safe return. hundreds of people gather tonight for a candlelight vigil for the 15 year-old sierra la

marque. meantime the fbi is deeply involved in the search. here's more on the area that they are zeroing in on. >> tonight in fremont more than 400 people gathered for the fourth candle light vigil since the sierra disappeared one week ago. this time at her old school, washington high-school. the family spoke to supporters and it is as difficult as ever. >> like everyone keeps saying, do not give up hope. you'll find her. no matter what it takes. >> i know that god is watching over her. and loves her. unconditionally. just like all of you. you love her unconditionally. and i know that mr. just like we do. >> a heavy presence from the fbi has given the investigation a new sense of urgency. agents flooded the area at

setting up checkpoints and asking about drivers habits at the early time of day when she disappeared last friday around 6:00 a.m.. several more agents swarmed the family's rental property and a neighbor's backyards, canvassing the area and doing consentual searches. they were also at an old born on palm avenue but it is unclear why since her cellphone and first, with clothing inside, were found well north of this location. although it is still officially a missing persons case, her mother had a message for daughter who she now fears is kidnapped. >> if you are seeing this on tv, please take care of yourself. because it is important for you to take care of yourself. even though you may not be in a good situation. if you need to stay strong so that you can survive this. >> 60 people are involved in the search for more with canine and helicopters. it will be looking at an area that stands 12 mi., a radius around where we are standing

now, looking for evidence and possible crime scenes. starting at 10:00 a.m. going until sundown. >> a montana man is behind bars after a small arsenal was uncovered in his luggage at a sacramento airport. authorities say they found four loaded handguns, three knives, and dozens of rounds of ammunition in his carry-on. that is not all. tony lopez is here with what else police say the suspect had stockpiled in his car. >> investigators say that harold waller was armed, dangerous, and ready to board a flight to phoenix thursday afternoon. instead of the dry desert air this 45 year-old resident of montana would soon be headed for a dusty cell at the sacramento county jail. as he made his way through the security checkpoints tsa agents uncovered a firearm in his carry-on and a full pat down revealed that he hated a gun in a holster. a 45 automatic with 12 rounds in the magazine and a round in the

chamber. the suspect had to 2 in. folding knives, and one for inch folding knife. but that is not all. inside of his bags officers found three more guns including to loaded 25 caliber automatic weapons with six rounds in the magazine and a 9 mm smith and wesson. a search of his car which he parked off of airport property uncovered eight more guns. some of them loaded. for a grand total of 12 guns. three nights. and 192 rounds of ammunition. >> there are a lot of crazy people out there, and, you just never know who is armed, you need to protect yourself at all times. >> even the most seasoned traveler shocked by the amount of firepower he's accused of trying to smuggle. >> that is a tremendous amount of ammunition, he was apparently planning on doing damage. >> he has some type of agenda that is scary. >> with a shock comes some satisfaction of a jury did its job but as one passenger put it, how could anyone missed this one

man arsenal? >> it is a good thing he was caught. >> he could face more charges once investigators determine his intense. for now he is intent on keeping quiet, a request for a jailhouse interview was denied. >> for the next month the san fransisco sherrif will be isolated from his wife and his young son. today he agreed to let his wife take their son and to venezuela. so that she can take care of her sick father. a stay away order issued in january has limited his visits with his son. the sherrif will still be able to call his son during the trip. over the next month he says that he will complete as many violence counseling sessions as possible. >> protesters across the country are rallying for the rest of the florida neighborhood watch leader koula shot and killed an unarmed black teenager. even the president has weighed

in sang that the 17 year-old case resonates with him as a parent. >> if i had a son he would look like him to read and i think that every parent in america should be able to understand why it is absolutely imperative that we investigate every aspect of this. >> george zimmerman told police that he was acting in self- defense. but the law may not be on his side for long. >> 12,000 teenagers walked out of miami schools today. it was a show of solidarity for the 17 year-old and his parents. >> they are like our crutches. we are able to lean on the supporters. in their standing with us, and that they will stand with us until the end it. >> what have to happen next to get you to where you want to end up? >> arrest, trial, conviction.

this sam >> george zimmerman said that he shot martin in self-defense and remains free. florida has appointed a new special prosecutor for the case. she and federal investigators were both in florida today. >> does that give you more confidence? >> it lets us know that there will be a thorough investigation and we have someone that is impartial. that will do a good job. >> federal investigators have yet to interview zimmerman. frank is his neighbor. over last year they both guarded their subdivision as crime watch volunteers. >> george went above and beyond the call of duty, he was diligent. he had a real passion and a concern for the safety of all the residents here in twin lakes. >> he said that you went above and beyond but did he go too far? >> no. >> he was studying criminal

>> welcome back to eyewitness news here on cbs five, we'll get right to it because we have so many things going on this weekend with little league baseball games and the car show. birthday parties, and we have rain. the live high-definition radar picking up some light of verta throughout the northern portions of the district. that is rain that evaporate before it hits the land. these darker shades of green is modified raindrops occurring around santa rosa. futurecast illustrates the heaviest rainfall will occur during the morning hours. but it is looking more optimistic, this system will stall over the bay area, kicking out a little bit sooner. so by sunday morning hit and missed the scattered showers. and then a we were shower during the day before the next system comes monday night.

knocks down his fifth three- pointer. the tar heels outscored them and beat ohio to events. cheering on indiana, coached by his brother-in-law. but kentucky had better than the hoosiers. michael kid goes coast to coast for two of his 24 points. the wildcats beat indiana 100 2/90. high-school hoops title game in sacramento. bird had two of his 24 points. the bay area top-ranked team beat price 70/56. division to, archbishop gordon had 33 stores and 20 rebounds. the monarchs won at 78/57 for their second straight title but they will not be the only ones getting more attention at school monday. the girls are also state champions, beating j.w. no. 56/54. every week on game day we hand out the " they said it " award.
